when should a Christian couple say I love you in this video I’m gonna give you four pointers on this topic hey everybody I’m Marc from apply God’s Word calm a place where we apply the Bible to your life so again when should a Christian couple say I love you when they’re dating when they’re engaged to be married at the altar you know when should this happen what point number one is pretty simple but I don’t think it should be overlooked which is they should say I love you when they actually mean it how again I know that might sound overly simplified but the reason I say that is because these three words are often used in manipulative ways a lot of people know that if they say I love you they can get other things that they want from this person that they’re in a relationship with a lot of times these words are used to manipulate to get a physical affection to cross sexual boundaries or maybe even just to make it sound like your relationship is extremely serious and you can tell other people there’s all kinds of reasons of why you might want to say this besides actually meaning it but in Ephesians 4 verses 25 and 29 it says therefore having put away false oh and let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor we are members of one another let no corrupting talk come out of your mouth but only such as is good for building up as it fits the occasion that it may give grace to those who hear so in effect number one we should always tell the truth and number two we should only talk about things that are helpful to the person that we’re speaking to so if you don’t actually mean I love you you shouldn’t say it to that other person so how do you know if you actually love somebody or not point to is that a Christian couple should not say I love you until they’re ready to show that love in action so sometimes people aren’t like extremely manipulative and like overtly trying to trick somebody and give something they want from them by saying I love you however a lot of times they might say it without really knowing what love means in the scriptures and ultimately love in the Bible is an action it’s an expression of commitment and sacrifice for the person that you love for example in John 15:13 Jesus said you know there’s no higher love than to lay down one’s life for his friends that means that the highest form of love you give you can give to somebody is to lay down your life because love requires a sacrifice on your part you can’t give any greater sacrifice than your own life that doesn’t mean that we always need to die for the people that we love if the you know the circumstances don’t call for that but it does mean that love is an expression of sacrifice for that person so the greater the sacrifice the greater the expression of love and so you want to express your love in action and commitment therefore in a Christian relationship you should not say I love you until you’re ready to put some action behind those words and commitment behind those words as well number three a Christian couple should not say I love you until they are prepared to awaken their sexual desires even more from one another so God made a man and a woman who are romantic with one another to have a sexual desire for each other that’s a good thing God made marriage and he made sex to be a part of marriage it bonds a husband and wife together it’s an expression of their love for one another and it’s a beautiful thing totally created by God but when a couple start saying I love you it’s going to awaken more sexual desire in that relationship so you should not say these words until you’re ready to commit to that person so that you can express sexual desire in the bonds of marriage so again I’m not saying it’s wrong to awaken sexual desire it’s wrong to awaken sexual desire when you are not committed and when you cannot express that in the bonds of marriage so this was why point four I believe that you should not say I love you until you’re prepared to get married so this is really my opinion and my biblical application of what I see in Scripture there’s not a rule in the Bible that says you can’t say I love you in a dating relationship so if you’re under a different conviction I respect that and I’m not trying to put a law on you know this whole topic but for the reasons that I mentioned I do believe that it’s the wisest safest and the most truest way to wait to say I love you until you’re ready to show the highest form of love you can have in a mantle woman relationship which is the commitment of marriage if you really love somebody you’re gonna marry them because love at its highest form is faithfulness commitment and I know there’s different expressions of love there’s there’s lower levels of love that maybe aren’t to that level of marriage bond but when you say I love you to somebody you know what are you gonna say I love you kind of a little bit I mean so biblically I would say if you really love somebody you really want to tell the truth and you and you’re there then you should say that when you propose or even at the altar for me personally I said I love my wife I said I love you when I propose her and I put a ring on her finger because I felt like I don’t want to tell her I love her without like backing this up because I felt fake if I just said I love you and I didn’t put a ring on her finger and meant like I’ll be with you as long as we’re on earth together I’ll be at your side that to me is an expression of true love while Mark from apply God’s Word calm hope you enjoyed this video if you
