Christian Dating Advice – Unequally Yoked Relationships Bible Study – Bible Devotional – Bible Lesson I want you to imagine for a second that
you’re involved in a school project or maybe a work venture that you’re
partnered with someone about completely different goals and expectations than
you did in that project. I mean how far along do you think you could
go along in that project without hitting heads against each other, or how far
along you think that project would actually get? You probably never even
complete it because you guys are heading in different directions. The same is true in a Christian
relationship and dating, and scripture never actually gives a specific dating
advice. There’s no verse that I can quote he says, thou shalt date like this. But, there
is a lot of relationship advice. We see one of those things in Ezra chapter 9
verse 1, where it says, “The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites had not
separated themselves from the peoples of the land’s.” See the problem here is when
God took the Israelites out of Egypt he told them to go to a new place, but in
that place they’re surrounding peoples who worshiped
different gods, who had different morals, different values, he said do not get
involved with them. But in Ezra chapter 9 we find out that they did, and it’s to
Ezra’s great grief because he understands that they have compromised
their values, they had put themselves in a place, where they have placed God
second, and their relationship with people first. And it will never work that way. See, the
best relationship works when it’s like a triangle, where you have male and female
at the bottom and God on top, and as these to move closer to God they also
move closer to each other. That’s the picture of a perfect relationship. Because you grow closer to God, and grow closer together. That’s a healthy relationship.
In 2nd Corinthians 6 verse 14, it says “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light
with darkness?” In our relationships, God has to be the head he has to be first,
and when you partner with someone your in your relationship with someone who
loves God as much as you do then you have the same goals, you have the same values,
you have the same morals, you the same eternal focus. And you also have the same boundaries,
and that’s important in a dating relationship. And so, as you consider
dating make sure you’re not unequally yoked. Make sure that you’re dating someone
who loves God as much as you do, or more than you, so you both can grow
closer to God together. That’s today’s Bible Munch If this devotion was encouraging, please
give a thumbs up to let me know, send it off to some friends, and don’t forget to
subscribe if you haven’t done so yet. I’d love to read your comments down below, But that’s enough of me, it’s time for you to open up God’s Word, and get
munching.
