5 Signs You Are in the Right Christian Relationship

how can you know if you’re in the right Christian relationship in this video we’re gonna talk about five different signs that mean you are in the right relationship for you hey everybody I’m Marc from relationship is that if this relationship is helping and not hurting your walk with God as Christians God wants us to use everything in our life to ultimately bring us into a closer more intimate relationship with him and so that we can serve him better relationships are such an important part of a Christians life because they have so much influence on the way that we live so if we’re linked with somebody who is not passionately seeking Jesus like we want to that’s gonna you know massively hinder our ability to love God and to grow in our relationship with him and Jeremiah 29:13 God says you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart so God wants us to be all-in with our relationship with him first and foremost so if a Christian relationship is kind of like lukewarm or it’s really not helping you seek God more passionately than you are without this person you know that’s not a good sign you want somebody who’s going to enhance your passion for God and help you and encourage you and who you can also encourage as you both seek God more and more together number two is very similar to number one but this time we’re talking more about the emotional side of our relationship with God so if you feel closer to God when you’re with this person this is a good sign that you’re in the right Christian relationship now this point can really be taken out of context I’m not saying that you should rely on someone to be your mediator or that should feel more holy or closer to God because of this person’s righteousness and you feel like this person’s better than you so if you can be with them that must mean you’re closer to God than you are if you’re not with them that’s not what I mean at all but what I mean is that when you’re with someone that you know God is blessing you to be with that you know God’s happy that you’re with this person you feel you feel that in your spirit with the Lord so you know when you when you come to prayer and when you are focusing on God and you’re asking God about this relationship and you think about this person and you feel like a distance with God that’s not a good sign you want the opposite effect you want this person when you’re thinking about this person in your prayers and when you’re talking to God about this person you want to feel God’s pleasure about this relationship you don’t want to be you know feeling like he’s not blessing it so this one you know you definitely want to be guided by the Word of God you don’t want to be too emotional driven proverbs 13:20 says whoever walks with the wise becomes wise but a companion of fools suffers harm so in this verse we see this principle that I’m talking about you know who you hang out with directly affects your relationship with Jesus Christ number three you’re in the right Christian relationship when you feel freer to be yourself and not pressured to be someone that you’re not it’s a basic relationship principle that we usually feel comfortable around those people that make us feel like our truest selves or or maybe a better way to put it is that they don’t put pressure on us to be someone we’re not when you can feel at peace just to be who God made you to be in this person’s presence and you don’t feel this pressure to act like someone you’re really not this is a really good sign so if you’re introverted you just naturally maybe don’t like to talk sometimes you like quiet time and this person just respects that understands that and it’s totally fine with it you know that’s a good sign but for example if you’re more introverted and this person’s just so confused by and they can’t get over that you don’t want to go to parties and they never are able to grasp this idea that you’re to them you know that’s gonna be a conflict that they can’t understand that eventually sometimes it takes time of course you know I’m not saying everyone’s just gonna instantly understand each other we have to work through those things together and try to figure it out and realize okay this is how we can accept one another and all that’s normal in a relationship to go through that that period of time but if you never get there and the person just want you to be someone you’re not this is not a good sign number four you’re probably in the right Christian relationship if this relationship is stretching you in healthy ways so not every hard relationship is the wrong relationship a lot of times we think if it’s God it’ll be easy and if it’s hard it must not be God and that’s really unbiblical God often puts us through difficult times and seasons as a way of growing us and maturing us when I was dating my wife we had we went through some really difficult times in our in our dating season but it was healthy it was stretching us in ways that we needed to be stretched we were our relationship was exposing areas in us that we needed to improve upon that weren’t unhealthy and so the relationship was really good it was a good sign because we were God was like forcing us to deal with this stuff that we wouldn’t have dealt with if we weren’t together so we were growing as Christians so if the relationship is stretching you in a healthy way and it’s causing you to grow but it’s difficult and it’s a struggle sometimes that’s actually a good sign and number five if you can see a healthy future Christian ministry with this person and you can see a fruitful ministry with this person that’s a really good sign that you’re in the right Christian relationship and I don’t mean you have to be a pastor that you have to be paid on staff at church or be an overseas missionary or something like that but every Christian is called to be fruitful in their life we’re all called to be bearing fruit for God so you want to be with somebody who again is going to enhance your spiritual gifts and encourage your spiritual gifts and just help you grow in your minute treat and be a partner with you in that ministry it doesn’t mean you have to have the exact same gifts get the gift set or the exact same passions or the exact same heart for a certain need but this person has to be able to support you in that and you need to be able to support them in that and you can’t be going in two totally different ways in your desires for ministry for example if someone does want to be an overseas missionary and you don’t want to be an overseas missionary that’s a huge problem because you two are going on two totally different trajectories in life being in overseas and being in the States is extremely different so you want to be with someone who is compatible in in these big general ways no one’s going to be completely compatible there’s always going to be differences but are you going in the same direction when it comes to Christian ministry and bearing fruit for God like I said in the beginning of this video if you enjoyed this content and you want more information on how God will reveal if
