The Power of Two
“The second letter of the Hebrew alef-bet,  bet – ב, mirrors the symbolism of the number two. It is called Bet. It is from this letter  that we get our word, both. This letter is the first letter of the Torah and of the book of Bereshit (Genesis). Like the number two, Bet stands for the beginning of man’s journey.” – Rabbi Dr. Hillel ben David (Greg Killian).   Â
(Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Two is the minimum number of people to be sent on an important assignment.
- Two angels were sent to Sodom (Genesis 19:1);
- two spies were sent to Jericho (Joshua 2:1);
- Jesus sent His disciples out two by two (Mark 6:7).
Two is the minimum number for witnesses.
- “By the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established” (Deuteronomy 19:15).
Life Application.
- Â Companionship and fellowship are certainly advantageous in life.
