everyone welcome back to channel on today’s episode we’re gonna be answering the question how do you know if you are ready yet for marriage I actually invited a couple of my friends on to share with you guys their thoughts and if you stick to the very end my friend actually decided to share a song that he and I wrote it all the way back when we were in Bible College together so you know definitely stay to the end of the video if that’s something that you like to check out but let’s go ahead and turn the attention over to them three ways you can know that you are ready for marriage hey we are Derrick and Marley and today we’re answering the question am I ready to get married and we’re gonna show you three ways that you can know if you’re ready for marriage feelings so you might be considering someone specific that you actually want to marry or you might be just questioning your readiness for marriage feelings is one of the ways that you can the guy communicates with us and if you might be speaking to your heart and giving you feelings of uneasiness maybe if it’s not right yet or maybe he’s giving you feelings of peace and confidence if that if it’s perhaps the right thing to do and so you need to evaluate your partner and evaluate yourself and the feelings that you’re getting a really good video that you can check out is just as an emily’s video five questions to ask before you start dating they have really good things about red flags and all those things to look for when you are with a partner you may have some expectations for yourself like you might feel like you need to have a really good job and a lot of money you might feel like you need to be able to cook a three-course meal or you might feel like you need to be super hot and in shape but even if you aren’t a really rich super hot chef it doesn’t mean that you are ready to get married these factors will not ensure a lasting marriage because wealth and beauty and abilities can all go away in the blink of an eye Jeremiah 17:9 says the heart is deceitful above all things so feelings really aren’t the best way to evaluate whether you’re ready to get married that’s why we look to God’s providence number two is Providence first make sure that you have a partner to get married to right but then make sure that your family your friends your pastors counselors especially godly people that they also see that you are ready for marriage ask around don’t hide away and try to assume that you are ready for marriage when everybody else tells you otherwise also what about obstacles in your life are there big obstacles in your life such as education or financial debt or other things maybe family that doesn’t feel you’re ready put those in God’s hand and let him validate that you are ready for marriage by swinging those doors wide open and number three is God’s Word God’s Word tells us that love is to be selfless in in first Corinthians 13 you read about the descriptions of love you should memorize that but right in the middle of that list it says that God love is not self-seeking love focuses on the needs of someone else above our own in in Ephesians chapter 5 it says husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it in Philippians 2 it says that Christ humbled himself and became obedient became a servant even unto death and that is the greatest example of selfless love and this produces endless love you know marriage is not a trial period it doesn’t have a return policy marriage is a commitment until death do us part and we need to go into marriage without thinking of divorces and option and we need to go into it planning to be together forever and so you can see this example when Christ continuously seeks after us he continuously pursues us even though we keep rejecting him we keep ignoring him in the Bible you can see many examples of that and it happens in our lives daily and so if we can continue to seek after our spouse we can continue to love them and forgive them no matter what that will produce a lasting marriage now the Word of God teaches us to love selflessly to love endlessly now how do we develop this kind of love and I will say that it is by loving God first in Matthew 25 if you read a parable that symbolizes Christ and his servants and he says you will be with me in heaven because you clothed me when I was naked and you fed me when I was hungry and you visited me when I was in prison and his servant said when did we do this jesus said when you did this to my brethren you also did it to me what about the homeless person in the corner of the street that maybe you have to disrupt your agenda for the day to show them some love and what about that awkward kid at school or a church that maybe nobody talks to and you’re not cooler by hanging out with them but you can show them love anyways that is self-sacrificing love that is unconditional love and throughout marriage we’re not saying that you have to be perfect before you enter marriage but through marriage you have to continually sacrifice your interests for the sake of someone else and why not practice now I really encourage you guys to memorize first Corinthians 13 verses four through seven and to help you with that [Music] [Music] does not see rejoice rejoice [Music] and do [Music]
