hi guys welcome back to my channel today I’m coming with another topic with your favorite mic okay somebody left us a question in the comments about Christian dating so Mike took it upon himself to do the necessary research to clarify a few things as far as modern dating is concerned and courtship is concerned and a whole bunch of stuff so how she just put all the responsibility on me like like this is what Mike said I’m just saying he did the research he researched it he even clarify some things for me especially the whole courtship and how I looked at that so do you wanna start with that raw definition of courtship sure absolutely so a question from a woman on the YouTube channel she wanted to know how Christians are supposed to go about dating right like what can you do what can’t you do you know she said a lot of the YouTube channels that she’s watched with Christian couples always just talk about the don’t do this and don’t do that you know I’m saying so I went ahead and did some research is always best to do your own due diligence whether you’re a Christian and church listening to a pastor or whatever you know it’s always best for you to do your own research first and foremost when it comes to a courtship right so this is a new term for me like I don’t think I ever knew of course it wasn’t until I met Jerry yeah about mister celibacy and our courtship he was like are you sure you were in a courtship yeah it just wasn’t right like after I did the research and I was like man like this was this is crazy the bible does not give clear guidance on how to date especially in modern-day America you know back then there were some practices that were pretty consistent with everybody’s families and how they got along with when it came to dating so dating back then usually started at a young age so you know you might be talking sixteen seventeen years old once the opposite sex starts to pay attention to the other opposite sex early on the courtship couldn’t begin first and foremost without there being an established relationship when it comes to Friendship I already know who you are you already know why because we go to church together because we commune together and because we spend a lot of time together okay so the courtship begins with that and it doesn’t transform it to something more until the two people have agreed to bring their hearts matters of the heart into their their situation that never happened in my Porsche because when I was doing with mr. celibacy we met online so it definitely wasn’t matters of the hearts being connected and we definitely didn’t go to church simply how it happened okay so the man’s responsibility initially right once he decides that he’s really interested in this this young lady he likes his young lady and he wants things to go further so the very first thing he has to do is not necessarily to address the young lady go to the male authority in her life to see if it’s okay alright and if you didn’t do that I mean that’s considered total disrespect then a lot of men from my past absolutely absolutely because modern dating tells us I don’t want you to meet our family and meet my family until I feel like it’s okay yeah absolutely you know some some cases if a man doesn’t bring you around his family he does not have plans for you I’m sorry so you have to get to seek the authority okay and a lot of times back then merging families because that’s really what marriage is okay courtship is the idea that we will continue along thinking about getting married okay so it’s not just casual dating okay casual modern dating tells us to shop around until you find what you want [Music] next exactly so next okay so a long with this courtship once you once you’ve met the father father gave you two okay cop says cool he establishes whether you know I got cows y’all got chickens our families will be good okay cuz that’s how it was back then it was more than just the two people that were getting married or in a courtship you were merging families and which you had back yeah the little dating doesn’t sound very fun no it wasn’t fun at all no I won’t say that I will say that a lot man compared to modern dating and what we’re used to doing it doesn’t seem like I could get a cocktail on a date or anything like that you could get a cocktail you could drink wine okay so a lot of Christians have this idea that it’s just it’s not okay to drink alcohol there’s nowhere in the Bible where it says drinking alcohol is bad it says don’t be a drunkard and that word a drunkard was Universal for anything all right so this thing is not just don’t consume massive amounts of alcohol it’s don’t do a lot of bad things period as we as we you know as we continue so now we talk about the going the actual dating portion of the courtship okay and here’s where a lot of people are gonna be like what like come on how are we gonna do this in 2017 people are busy order today and of course ship mm-hmm back then biblical times you had to have someone a chaperone to make sure that you maintain the integrity of your courtship okay like on the first day first day second day third day all the ways we all get married you had to have the chaperone and this person’s main responsibility was to make sure that you’re not kissing kissing huggy huggy on your back on y’all date absolutely he was there to maintain I couldn’t even imagine yes oh yeah this is my big sister yeah she’ll be on the date with us tonight right yeah but I did so many common people want to know what biblical date is and they want to date the biblical way do you want to date the biblical way right now after hearing this it’s real my god that’s toss reel because God doesn’t enter the union until you get married okay so he’s into the union individually she has her own relationship I have my own relationship but when you decide to go to a courtship and get married he doesn’t enter the union until marriage and then now it’s you know man woman God is the head man and so on and so forth so biblical dating was just way different than modern dating you know like I said modern dating tells us that we should shop around until we find that right one I mean with the biblical thing you ain’t even have to do your nails and makeup you might go where would you clean the house up but I mean you’re probably good you’re probably good it’s Nancy bottom day you gotta put on a dress you got your hair done and curls your nails need to be done like you know I look a certain way walking out biblical dating basically is you know you did things in groups a Christian couples you know on YouTube they tell you about the do’s and don’ts you know I’m saying they say don’t do this don’t do that you know so maybe we can help give some I guess some some clarification on which what you can do a lot of the Christian dating couples that you see on YouTube they always tell you the great things that they did you know I’m saying but I would be shocked I’m not I don’t want to call anybody a liar but I would be shocked if I met a couple that did their courtship this way you know in today’s world I really would and maybe on the date right not your daddy your bestie like nobody wants nobody on their dates with them right so I will really doubt that people are doing courtship that way right I really doubt it and today did they maintain that integrity the entire way I mean I only know one person who’s done it and is from the Indian culture which this is very common in Indian culture absolutely because the marriages were arranged yeah and he was it was arranged marriage and her father would go on the dates look them up until they got married he couldn’t spend time with his now wife alone so I know it from the Indian cultural standpoint but in the black community standpoint right I never seen it right but that’s something that someone on here has gone through definitely leave your story below I want to know from you absolutely so Christian daters what should you do making sure you stay on the Christian side of the dating pool versus the modern side which is like really cutthroat and savage so first and foremost I would say the first thing that you should do is make sure that you have somebody in mind okay that is single and that you may have had a few conversations with in the past not necessarily just met off of a whim even on the dating site I mean that’s kind of tricky just make sure you have enough conversation to you so you know their character do they have the same beliefs as you you know they’re godly are they living in a godly way if that’s what you want if you’re living in a godly way you want your man to be living in that same God way once you have a few conversations with them you know maybe you you go out you leave want to call it a date why hit okay you just have lunch maybe you work in the same place maybe you go to the same church but you want to do your dating okay in that field okay just to start once you both figure out that you have a mutual attraction to each other then that’s when you say hey maybe maybe I’m interested in you in another way all right we should think about that so once you’ve agreed on that then it’s okay for you if not if you’re going to do this the biblical way I don’t know if you want to you want that person to go ahead and meet your father at this point in your life or meet your mother at this point of your life and oh that’s just so tough today it is tough because you know what families now they’d be like oh you got another one you bring another one home that last one you have that didn’t work what happened but I’m gonna tell you why that happens okay so here’s what it happens it’s because you brought somebody home that you weren’t supposed to in the beginning to you know to start with you weren’t supposed to bring that person huh sure they weren’t a godly like you they didn’t have the same foundational structure as you so you took him out yeah then that was a mistake you shouldn’t took them home to begin we take everybody know when you’re dating you’re fat your past follows you you are living this modern dating life is polishing definitely that’s where I’ll say that you start all right for men it is very very important that you make yourself an interesting person do you know what I mean by that know who you are know what you like to do go out and see some things do some things okay go out and learn some things because when you go on this date with this woman you’re gonna have to have something to talk about not just your cell room that’s very true because I get bored easily if you keep talking about yourself and how much money you make a how establish you our material with your materialistic items I’m just gonna be bored I believe and get to know the woman that’s that’s that’s key that’s paramount get another woman you know you know who you are as a person already but your main especially if she has kids I think is the most disrespectful thing for you to be out on a date with a woman and you know she has kids but you’ve never asked what’s the kid’s name you’re always a little one because he hears things like that it’s terribly my my son absolutely and I think that’s terrible that’s important right but can you go somewhere as a Christian as a Christian woman or a Christian man and have a glass of wine and talk to that other Christian individual yes absolutely can you go out to a restaurant and have a drink yes absolutely I watched some Christian couples and the way that they met a few of them even said well we met in the club yeah we were doing our research and we saying that people have met their husbands in the club the one place they tell you you should not be added well they met the husband I feel like you can meet your husband anywhere you can another thing that I’ve noticed about the courtship Christian dating is that the only thing that they really tell you to stay away from is the sexual you know immorality and there’s so much more to celibacy into courtship than just not having sex so it’s a lot more solid it’s a lot more like I said this is the meeting of families you know it’s a lot with children if you have them absolutely everyone building a relationship with everyone so where can you go you can go anywhere you can go to all the same places that normal people go and they go ahead and go and have fun yeah gonna have fun just do it in a way that doesn’t bring shame upon yourself you know what I mean just don’t don’t go out there and drink it so much you’re getting so drunk that you you go into the back of it just like cheese you know I’m saying I didn’t say move these out I think I didn’t say white cheese I didn’t seen it all I’m like wow right but but stay away from the physical contact as much as you can if that’s what you’re going to do because that physical contact will kind of put you in a position where you want that person even more it’ll build that fire well what about online dating we met online and a lot of people frown upon online date and they feel like it’s a trap they feel like it’s a booty call online dating is just like dating out here in the world you run the same risks running into someone in person and dealing with a jerk online and then you do in real life you just have to be careful with whatever whichever route you go you have to make sure that you know that you get to know this person who they really are and if they’re not willing to open up to you in that way then you need to walk away from them sometimes it’s hard to walk away I don’t know why for women it is because we be in our heads too damn much he cute he got a beard he chokolate I’m gonna walk away from him he looks like the perfect eye candy instead of what he really is on the inside we more so focused on what he is on the outside and how he looks absolutely the image of it all absolutely yeah and that’s that’s not a good way to go about it of course you want to be attracted to whoever you know whether you’re a modern dating sad or biblical dating site you still there still is an attraction there there’s something that God put in you that makes you attractive to the opposite sex is what it is yeah absolutely that’s how Christian dating went back in the day I don’t know if you guys really want to go that route if you do yeah then this is how this is how you gotta do it I’m sorry let your family about right away right right because they can see things that you won’t see that these rose-colored glasses always you look at this beautiful woman and you know she’s like she got a big old booty she got that job and she do this and do that but your family can see which you can they can see your interactiveness but you can see her interaction is to you just choose to ignore yeah absolutely it happens to the best of us so do you have anything else that I have made now that I can think of to talk about it all right well
